I was inspired by the great presentation by Tiffany Shlain on lessons of life!

I’ll share by favorites!

  1. Know what you want and know when to walk away.   You won’t succeed at everything.   So know which things to stick with and which things to throw over!
  2. Be over prepared.   Enough said!
  3. Think outside the box.    Tiffany shared a story about how she didn’t like to negotiate so she had folks email her “alternative email” so that she could negotiate in a  different voice.   Think about different ways to be strong!
  4. Renegotiate your definition of success.   It does change throughout life!
  5. Negotiate boundaries with technology.    Tiffany and her family turn off all devices one day a week — their family’s new favorite day!
  6. Whoever throws out the first number loses.    (Her freebie!)
  7. Always use the Love Sandwich approach.   Start with the good, what “they” will get.   Add in the middle what you want — and close with the “what they will get”
  8. Seek advice from a diverse group of people.
  9. Workout your courage.  It is like a muscle that needs to be exercised.
  10. Have fun and constantly be changing!

I love this advice because as a leader, it places your focus on others not on yourself!
  • I once worked with a gentleman who was so put together.  But what I didn’t know was that his wife had MS and was struggling to deal with his new situation.
  • Or a young talented girl that is coding in Hackathons but has to have another job to make ends meet.

You never know what is behind each person!

With over 600 participants, 3X what expected, B.Amsterdam was completely Sold Out! In collaboration with Startupbootcamp,  and their sister company Innoleaps,  we are offering a unique experience for the Amsterdam ecosystem.

Today,  15 startups did their 3 minute pitch in front of a crowded amphitheater of investors, corporates and entrepreneurs:

  • SustainerHomes just closed their first deal live here just few minutes before their pitch!!! Things happen at the speed of light
  • Cupenya with their predictive analytics innovative solution impressed the audience!  They shared how IBM Bluemix unleashed them on the market. coming back from CEBIT with a lots of leads this opening certainly  allowed to further accelerate their growth!

We saw super long lines of enthusiastic developers waiting for Bluemix demos (Twitter handles and Poseidon project).  There was so my energy from the endless possibility of composing App this platform can offer!
